
Dharamshala, 23 Sept 1991- Dongag Tenzin took the oath of office in the presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and formally assumed the responsibilities of the Auditor General.
According to the Charter, Tenzin’s tenure is set for 10 years or until the age of 65, whichever comes first. His appointment was made under the authority of Article 107 of the Charter.
According to Article 107 of the Charter, His Holiness the Dalai Lama appointed Cabinet Secretary Dongag Tenzin as the Auditor General of the Tibetan Government Audit Office on September 19, 1991.
A distinguished civil servant, Tenzin has spent his entire life in service to the Central Tibetan Administration. He previously served as the Cabinet Secretary (Kadrung) from August 7, 1990, to September 22, 1991.
Prior to his role in the Cabinet, he served as the Secretary of the Department of Home from February 1, 1983 to August 6, 1990. His extensive administrative career includes serving as the Settlement Officer for the Chauntra Nangchen Tibetan settlement, as well as Settlement Officer and Secretary of the Co-operative Society in Orissa. He also played a key role during the establishment of the Tezu settlement between 1962 and 1967.
Born in Lhasa in Jan 1937, Tenzin joined the military service at the Drapshi Military Camp at the age of 18. When His Holiness left for exile in India in 1959, Tenzin served in the security escort team responsible for His Holiness’s protection. Following his arrival in India, he was among the first students enrolled at the Mussoorie Boarding School and later selected for the first batch of staff training in Dharamshala.
